Hi Guys, I would just like to say how sorry I am that there has been a delay in announcing the winner of the Google Nexus 7.

The original plan was, just as my family left on holiday at the beginning of August, I announced the details of the giveaway, I had planned on announcing the winner on the 1st of September which would have given me two weeks at the end of August to actually spend time promoting the giveaway and getting as many people as possible involved. Unfortunately when we returned from holiday, my best friend who served in the Army with me told us that his sister was in a critical condition in hospital. This was obviously terrible news and took up quite a bit of my time.

Just to make matters worse I started experiencing even more problems with my back and so have been told to attend hospital on the 13th of September to prepare for another spinal fusion. On the 13th I am only having some test done and it is normally about two weeks later that I will go under the knife so to speak.

As a result I have extended the giveaway for 12 days, which will bring the date to Friday the 21st of September 2012. On this day regardless of what happens the winner will be selected and announced. I will upload a video here on YouTube and I will announce it on Techmedia Fusion, Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

The Kobo is by no means the biggest player in the eReader market, however they have an interesting ethos that makes for an excellent device, PERHAPS. Kobo very much run along the Open Source fence and as a result reading on the Kobo becomes a social event if that is something you enjoy. Via Facebook you can share what you are reading, comment on what you and your friends are reading and even share certain phrases from a book.

Kobo have three devices in their range, The Kobo Wifi £59.00, The Kobo Touch £79.99 and then the Kobo Vox £149.99. Both the Kobo Wifi and Touch are 6inch screens and are primarily eBook readers. The Kobo Vox is a colour 7 inch screen, running the Android operating system with a 7 hour battery life, which I would debate and a micro SD card slot upgradable to 32GB.

The Kobo is an excellent concept, however due to the lagging and constant crashes, there is certainly room for improvement. I am not sure if this is down to a hard ware issue or a software issue, but with Android devices such as the Nexus 7 hot on the Kobo’s tail, Kobo definitely need to implement a few improvements on the the device, which would include a little bit of a diet, whilst keeping it at the same price mark. Then and only then do I think Kobo could be onto a winner with the Kobo Vox eReader.

To be honest I was hoping for better performance from the Kobo, however it didn’t deliver on this front, due to the open source nature of the company, it is only performance that lets the device down.

today I have an unboxing of the Samsung Galaxy Tab, 8.9 inch. In the past I have been reluctant to buy an Android device, primarily due to the fact I am not very familiar with the OS, however as Tech Writer this was a pretty stupid move on my part. It is of course essential that I taste all flavours of tech regardless of their complexity.

For now though this is simply and unboxing video and I will be putting the Samsung Galaxy Tab through loads of test and uploading a full review in the next few days.

I will also be writing a full in depth review at Techmedia Fusion of the Samsung Galaxy Tab and how I find it in comparison to the iPad and other digital devices I use on a day to day bases.
